FOREVER YOUNG-STYLE TIPS ANSWERED

A reader wrote to me : I have to tell you I love your blog.  I was inspired to check out the orange lipstick.  Sephora didn't have the right shade of orange.  I saw a new coral by Revlon @ Duane Reade.  Is that it?  I also love the glitter topcoat on just the one nail.  I think I'm going to do my nails in Teal and drop with a gold glitter topcoat on the thumb or pinky nail.  What do you think?  Am I too old for this glitter stuff ?
Dear Reader,
You're never too old to have fun with fashion! Some trends can be too young for some, however most of the trends I blog about are for fearless females....meaning teen/missy trends can be translated into a mature version for women and women trends can take on a more youthful approach.   So you're certainly NOT TOO OLD for GLITTER! Especially when topped over a mature color.  Teal & Gold sound beautiful.  I personally like the thumb or ring finger, however if you'd like to experiment with the pinky why not ? It's the first thing people see when you have a glass of champagne or a cup of tea!  Now that's very grown up!


Adopting youth trends is also the key to looking forever young...good examples of that are Gwen Stefani & Jennifer Lopez, both 41.

TREND REPORT: JUDGE JLO

With the new season of American Idol underway & a new panel of judges, America is set to watch who will be America's next Idol, while the rest of us will be tuning in to see JLo, a fashion idol for many.  At the American Idol Conference on January 12, 2011, Judge JLo puts an edgy twist on the safari trend in a camel sheath mini dress, Brian Atwood leopard booties, lots of finger bling, and a skinny brown leather clutch .  JLo, America says "Yes, you're going to Hollywood"!

TREND REPORT: WEDGE IT IN

In 2006, I purchased 2 pairs of wedges, a gold round toe sandal by BCBG Max Azria that I won't even mention the price of those suckers & a nameless brand for $20 bucks in the Dominican Republic that are green suede & gold braided open toe sandal..looks very 60s. Here were are, 5 years later in 2011 & you'd never know I got them so long ago & I'm still rockin' them! Why am I telling you this ?? TREND REPORT: 68th ANNUAL GOLDEN GLOBES -MEN

This year's Golden Globes Award was all about slim suits, skinny tie, and silk/satin lapels.  Then there's Johnny Depp, the man in my eyes who can do no wrong, the fashionable rebel who makes his own style..he chose to fore go the tie and add a gold pocket chain & motorcycle boots...an edgy change to the classic tux.

Then you have Robert Downey Jr, another rebel in his own way or lets just say reformed rebel who opted out of wearing traditional black.

The 68th Golden Globe Awards, displayed some of the prettiest dresses I've seen in a very long time.   The overall theme was pops of color in jeweled, citrus, & nude hues. Along with elegant old Hollywood black & regal blues all on mermaid silhouettes. This very sexy look highlights the curves of a woman’s body and is influenced by the various flared skirt styles.

EASY BREEZY

Aside from the fact that they're so on trend, I almost want to say ahead of it, the 2nd thing I love most about Alloy, an online teen fashion site is many of their styles can translate from teen to missy and be just as flattering.

PREGNANT PENELOPE H to T

I've blogged about her before & yes not all of us are "expecting", but I just can't help but post a pic of Penelope.  She's one of my fave "Best Dressed" celebs preggers and all.  Even on a rainy day her look comes together from H to T.  It's almost as if her great sense of style shifts the focus away from her baby belly. Not only that, but this is a classic all around look even if you're not a mommy to be.
