FASHION POLICE: ROYAL BASHING

I must speak now and not forever hold my peace.  Victoria Beckham what were you thinking ?  This wasn't Four Weddings & a Funeral, it was the most anticipated wedding of the year.  Prince Charles and Kate Middleton get married! A royal wedding in the middle of Spring where guests arrived in nudes & pastels and uplifting floral hats & of all things you went in navy & black ?!  I hate to bash, but the ensemble resembles a retro high-class flight attendant.  Disappointing.

You learn something new everyday. That applies to fashion too! Who would've thought you could wear a combination of stripes all at once and not look like an inmate! My 2 favorite stripe duos in the Forever 21 store window.

NOSTALGIA: STYLE TIPS ANSWERED

"Andy you GOONIEEEEEE !" Who could forget the scene in one of the famous teen movies of all time  when "Andy" sends Troy's Letterman sweater up the wishing well in THE GOONIES.   Letterman sweaters & varsity jackets is an American tradition which symbolizes the elite high school athlete.  It's a way to express accomplishment stylishly.  It was also tradition for an athlete to give his girlfriend the letter jacket as way to show they were together as a couple or token of his affection.   Equivalent to today's Facebook status "in a relationship"..aahhhh the good ol' days.  Anyhow, Snapped4Style loves Q&A.

I know it's a little while away but I need to get my hand on a cute varsity Letterman jacket that is trendy and not so pricey. A. H&M has some for sure. I always think it would be cool too to go to your old high school & see if you can buy one from them.

*The Goonies, American Tradition, High School all brings back nostalgia. I have always thought about going back to my old Alma Maters to buy tees to sport with some outfits....not a bad idea if you ask me.  It's original, holds personal meaning, & represents you which is what I love about fashion!

TREND SETTER: MUUAAAHH!

The runways have been showing bold lips in oranges, hot pinks, golds and even blues, but I'm also willing to take it even further & try this!  No, no one will look at you like you're crazy, those looks would be more like a wow, that's amazing, I wish I could get away with that or where can I get it!

WHAT I WORE EASTER SUNDAY: 2011

Most of us who are budget conscious or trying to make a retail investment ask, "Will I like this next year ?" and if you're like me, I ask myself, "Will I like this in the next few years ?" ...Yes YEARS as in when I'm in my 40s.   WHY ? Because there are 2 things certain in fashion.  1. It always comes back. 2. There's nothing like vintage! So when I make a purchase, even if it's on impulse, I usually go for what I call an I.R.A (Investment Retail Apparel).  This is a piece that is editorial, yet timeless.   Another advantage in timeless pieces is updating it with new trends along the way!

Some people just have a knack when it comes to fashion, their look comes all together like a beautifully painted canvas. That's what I love about fashion, the end result, the LOOK. As for me, I work with my look, each day my sense of style evolves, however I'm also on a major budget! I don't wear designer labels & I don't always have the accessories to put the final touches on an outfit. So I let the body do the talking! I try to stick to the main trends & work it in with what's already in my closet.
