HIGH HEELS 101

I was at the shoe repair over the weekend, getting my heel caps replaced on my favorite booties.  When the shoes were returned to me, I noticed the lower spine of the heel had been chipped away.  The shoe man offers to spray paint the back of my heel and at the same time gave me a 101 on heel and heel caps. 


We are not Dorothy & this is not the Wizard of Oz, there's no clicking heels here. He said, as soon as you hear your heels click click click, don't wait, take your shoes to get repaired immediately.  Don't say oh it can wait, oh I don't have the money right now, it's not that bad because it is!  The longer you allow the metal on your heels to click, the heel begins to chip away and this is what eventually causes the heel to cave inward & break.

This smooth cat is no stranger to fashion in the night life. Depending which night you catch him, you may not realize it's the same guy.  Sometimes he can be seen in a 2 piece suit with a basic tee, a casual tux or a jacket and tie. One thing is for sure, he's not afraid of color or accessories and almost always accents his look with a touch of it.  Seen here in Vintage YSL.  Perfect transition into Spring.

PIA TOSCANO- AMERICAN FASHION IDOL

Loved American Idol Contestant, Pia Toscano's L.A.M.B jumpsuit, styled by the songstress of style, Gwen Stefani, guest stylist on American Idol. The whole combo of the black & white leopard print & the warrior/Egyptian collared necklace gave her look an updated tribal vibe.  Ladies, if you don't own a jumpsuit or a romper yet, you should.  This is another I.R.A....Investment Retail Apparel.  They are fairly inexpensive and can be found in stores like F21, BEBE, H&M to start with. A solid color will always be in style and can be updated with accessories.  For the girls all over this trend...printed jumpsuits are in!

TREND SETTER: OH YES YOU CAN!

If I overhear a conversation having to do with fashion that can use some enlightening, you can be sure I'm going to blog about it!


I was in BEBE the other day and a girl in her early 20s was trying on this "Ruched Panel Lace-up Maxi Dress" walking around the store in it, telling her friend "Oh my God, I love this dress" as she twirled around in it. She stopped in front of the mirror to admire it & said, "But I have no where to where this to." FREEZE MOMENT ... WHAT! UNFREEZE! I said to her, "This is New York City, what do you mean you have no where to where that to !?..Where it to a club"  She said, "It's a long dress, it's too dressy for a club." OH YES YOU CAN!  I told her throw a belt around that , some bangles, skinny necklace & boom now it's casual & girls will envy you for taking one small step for mankind  one giant leap for fashion!

I'm not a fan of Ed Hardy, however my blog is never about bashing, and isn't life all about having an open mind & many of times a change of heart ?  As I was shoe browsing I came across these fun stilettos by the famous tattoo apparel brand.  All I can say is, HOW CUTE!  Let these pop colors and Asian inspired prints be the topic of conversation.  I especially love the red!


*FASHION NOTE:  Just because this shoe has a bold print does not only limit it to a solid outfit.  It can be combined with other playful prints....remember what I said ... "open mind" ;)
