MY STYLE : Femme Fatale, Tough, Boho
- snapped4style
- This blog is about celebrity & street fashion. Stay up to date on all the latest trends before the rest of the world catches on! I have a knack on what's about to trend. My passion took me on a very fortunate venture with a fashion trend forecasting company. My style is editorial, but not over the top. A standout piece yet relatable, something you can wear no matter where you live & still look trendy without over doing it. I'm also on a budget so I can't accessorize & layer as much as I'd like to, so I blog about what I wear which is budget friendly fashion. I look forward to share my insight & intuition for style with people who enjoy it as much as I do. TREND REPORT: RHYTHM NATION

Grammy's 2010 theme was space age/military seen in performances by The Black Eyed Peas, Beyonce, Jaime Foxx, and Lady Gaga, with influences by Michael Jackson's flashy military attire to reflections of the Civil War.
These images takes us back to 1989, Janet Jackson's, Rhythm Nation music video (Janet Jackson - Rhythm Nation Video - Contactmusic.com) which addressed the social injustices in the world we lived in then. Today, almost 2 decades later we find ourselves in a similar situation as Janet's lyrics say, "People of the world are we looking for a better way of life...we are a part of the Rhythm Nation."
Trends come and go and come back again, yet the military trend always stands a post....strength in numbers...United We Stand!

I AM ME
I was in H&M yesterday getting the finishing touches to my Friday night outfit. While standing in line, the cashier jokingly mentions to another cashier that a woman came in earlier and asked a floor person for fashion help. Empathetically, I laughed & said, "Not everyone has a sense of style." In which he replies, "It's not about a sense of style, it's about being you...we try to teach our customers that, but some just don't get it." Ok..tell me something I don't know hahahaa, yet it's still worth mentioning....The beauty about fashion is anything goes, the key is making it look like art. Some people are naturals and others put some thought into it. Nonetheless, putting an outfit together is like decorating a room, you get knick knacks here & there, some match some don't, yet it all comes together. At the end of the day or should I say at the beginning of it, you are your own canvas!

SEXUAL REVOLUTION
Garters & Bustiers, Lady & her Gaga outfits, thigh-high boots, and latex...the inner bad girl is out to play and Halloween is no longer an excuse for ladies to dress risque. Part of 2009 & some of 2010 is proving to be a new era of modern open sexuality. This trend is done in a tasteful way... embrace it, enjoy it or like Ciara's video "WORK" it.Image: Ciara "Work" Video

TREND ALERT! STARE or WEAR

A fun alternative to Uggs....
If you don't have a pair, it's still not too late...talk about one of the best investments I made in 2008 for Fall/Winter 2009, Rubber Duck Snow Joggers. This warm and comfy sneaker boot has all the benefits of Uggs, but with more of a WOW FACTOR. Rubber Ducks made their debut on the celeb scene in 2007 and is also favored in the UK....I receive compliments or intrigued stares when I wear them, as if people are drawn to them...men & women alike ...which leads me to believe that this boot is going to have some fashion staying power. These boots are available for both men and women.
For a hipster look with the same umph and all the faux fur insulated fixin's, there's also Women's Nike Snow Waffle CL.

THAT'S HOT
I could give you a million reasons why I'd like to be a man...Ehhmm ladies I think we all know the #1 reason, no pun intended. If you're still thinking about it..long lines, long car rides...now you get it? Ok, let's get back to fashion. I'm obsessed with hi-top sneakers. For years men's sneaker styles have dominated women's styles, and with sneakers being bigger than ever for both genres, the men still take the lead in the creative foot race. Sneakers now having a whole world of their own and acknowledging that there is definitely a great selection for women, especially young women, I still can't help to wander over to the men's side. Maybe it's the inner tomboy in me or the fashionista that likes that extra edge in men's kicks. I don't know, but in the era of androgyny why limit ourselves! So I think it's worth mentioning or at least taking a look at one of my many favorite sneakers...for men of course, but this is not stopping me....Reebok's Ex-O-Fit Hi SG Strap. It's 80's meets future. What's not to like about that!
