TREND ALERT! PUT IT IN PRINT PLEASE

Prints are popping up on bottoms making basic staples come alive for Spring/Summer 11.  From retro & ditsy florals to tropical bermuda shorts, pastels, & ruffles.  For my women readers looking for a more mature look check out Spring 2011 runway looks from Balenciaga, Roberto Cavalli, & Dries Van Noten.

FASHION POLICE: SAYS WHO!

Recently on E! Entertainment News, Vanessa Hudgens & Kate Winslet we're "FINED" by the Fashion Police as a Fashion DON'T b/c Vanessa Hudgens wore ankle socks with her Roaring 20's ensemble & Kate Winslet for the Sheer Polka Dot.  Who says that's a fashion no no ?  As much as I love fashion, too many times the industry wants to dictate what is fashionably acceptable.  So I'm going to give credit where credit is due.  I love Vanessa's flirtatious touch with her socks, and I think the sheer contrast polka dots puts a different spin on a black dress. It's sexy, fun, accentuates her curves, & sophisticated all in one.  Plus Stella McCartney can do know wrong. Tell me what you think!

KANYE'S IN THE BUILDING....

Or out of the building I should say.  Kanye Kanye Kanye, so much can be said about him, you either love him or you hate him, but there's no doubt about it that Kanye can dress his ass off!  His style is relatable. He wears basic staples most of the time...jeans, tee, sneakers & blazer, nice outerwear, yet he takes it to a high-end level. He gets fashion and he's not afraid wear it, but then again what is this guy afraid of...not to mention he probably rolls out of bed in style.  I have yet to see him be a fashion "don't".  On a recent episode of Kim & Kourtney Take on New York, Kanye made a visit to their DASH store in NYC and as usual he was looking crispy in this pre-fall Burberry shearling trench coat.  This is the kind of coat that any man can wear & will give your look an instant makeover.  It's also one of those items I call I.R.A...remember...Investment Retail Apparel...it will never go out of style.

TREND REPORT: I PREFER PERFORATED

  

This spring/summer season is brought to you buy all things neutral & nude...a pretty good combo in general if ya' know what I mean...wink wink...especially in shoes.  It's become the go-to accent color for any outfit. 

This season were also seeing the following trends in women's shoes :

• Detailed Heels that contrast with the front of the shoe
• Embossed/Reptillian finishes
• Perforated Leather

This is a great statement bootie.  Wear with skinny anything..jeans, cargos, leggings, leather.  A short skirt, tailored shorts, even a dress. Colored socks that peep through would also create a great effect.

For the last few seasons it's been all about the ankles, ankle booties, cuffed sandals & shoes, so it would only be appropriate to put the ankles on lockdown with accessories seen in Giambattista Valli S/S 2011 show, as the tribal/warrior/futuristic influence trend continues.  Wear on both ankles, on one, in bold colors, or take the stacked bracelet trend and transition to the bottom of those legs! Remember many trends come off the runway, but it is us who interprets how we will use them!

KING OVERTHROWN

Last year at this time the fashion industry lost one of THE GREATS, Alexander McQueen, this year, 2011 the fashion world loses another great designer, as John Galliano is overthrown as the man behind Christian Dior.
However, all good things come to an end or do they...because out of something bad always comes something good and this much is true, the person chosen to replace Galliano and be the new designer for Dior is going to be the happiest person in the world  & an overnight success...and as we all know, one fashion house's trash is another fashion house's treasure...just like Kate Moss was dropped from all her contracts after her sniff sniff incident, she gained more offers, more contracts, more magazine covers & is still the most wanted supermodel at 36.  

John Galliano will easily supercede his reputation or make another brand famous.  Then again he may realize he's so damn talented he may start his own thang!.

TREND REPORT: TAKE THE PLUNGE LADIES

About than a year ago today, I reported Plunging V-necks...if you missed the post see it here! http://snapped4style.blogspot.com/2010/02/blog-post_02.html.  Now the racy neck line has been seen all over the 2011 runways & red carpets.  Michael Kors also put an emphasis on plunging necklines for his Fall 2011 collection for both men & women which led me to think...deep v-neck tees are mainly seen on men, so this is just another excuse to steal our boyfriend's tees & make them our own trend......Wear it with a pop lacy bra underneath, printed bandeau or let all show and let a long skinny necklace drape in between those boobies!
