IN FASHION NEWS

PhotobucketMarc Jacobs for Dior ? Really? As Sarah Palin would say, "Say it Ain't So".  I respect Marc Jacobs as a designer, however I associate him as an American classic designer who throws pop colors into his collection to make them interesting.  Change is good, however John Galliano is more out of the box sprinkled with a touch of over-the-top.  While finding someone to fill John's G's shoes is like trying to find a perfect match for Charlie Sheen on Two and a Half Men and Jobs for Apple, I'd prefer to see a designer that has a Je ne sais quoi under his name to fill this role. However, it's always best to have a mind open to everything and attached to nothing.

WHEN LIFE IMITATES ART : PART II

As summer comes to an end, we're reminded of all the things we love about it, the beach, walking along the water, the soft summer breeze in the air and footprints we leave in the sand. SNEAKER EDITION: CREATIVE RECREATION MEN

By now my followers should know I get as equally excited when I see a sneaker with swagger as much as I do when I see 5'inch heels with a red sole.  So without further ado, I introduce to you Creative Reaction "Men's Cicero High Top Sneaker".  Utilitarian meets Urban in canvas straps that intertwine with wool and a leather upper featuring an insulated removable snow cuff that resembles the neck of a buttoned up puffer.  Remove the cuff and you have an ankle strap. If you ask me, snow or no snow, removable or not, the cuff adds that extra wow factor, especially if you're the kind of guy that likes to show your stuff, half tuck the hem of your pants and show em' what you got!

FACEBOOK FASHIONISTA : ALL THE WAY FROM NORWAY

The truth is this girl is a natural beauty and her style is not really intended...she's actually backpacking to one of Norway's biggest summer music festival known as Traenafestivalen-Nyheter. It's a weekend of hiking, pitching tents, amazing views of water, high rocky mountains, and lots of music and partying with friends!
Yet we must not forget that fashion is influenced from other cultures and it so happens Anne is on point with her fair isle sweater,  loose french braid on one side of her hair and dainty ethnic silver earrings.  Here are some other highlights from the music festival. Idun Blidun I would've loved this! For more info on the festival visit http://www.trena.net/  If you'd like to be a "Facebook Fashionista" please submit photos to snapped4style@yahoo.com

WHAT I WORE: NYILFF

I got invited to the closing of the NYILFF, "New York International Latin Film Festival".  An offer I couldn't refuse because A. I'm a proud Latina  B.  A cultural event in the one and only NYC.  This event was sponsored by Heineken and included open bar on the terrace of the AMC Movie Theater in Times Square, a free movie screening, and an after party at the Highline Ballroom which is very swanky.  So what do you wear when you're going to a rooftop event by day and a NYC skyline view by night ? My one-piece 70s' inspired H&M pants suit for $19.95! I got this in February 2011, and finally was able to pull it out of the closet!  By the way the movie was "Our Latin Thing, Nuestra Cosa".  A documentary on a famous salsa group, FANIA and their performances at The Cheetah Club, NYC in the 70s.  All I can say is the rhythm and beats made me feel so alive it had me wiggling in my seat and tears coming out of my eyes.  It was the highpoint of Salsa and when people really had fun in the purest way.  Thank you know who for taking me.

CELEBRITY TREND REPORT: FRENCH FISH BRAID

Shall we call this new do "Le Poisson" which means fish in French ??  Sounds sexier when not translated, but so do most things in French! Braids braids braids has been Summer's 2011 biggest hair trend.  We've seen milk braids, Native Indian braids, variations of french braids, and the most popular of all the fish braid.  So why not combine one style with another to create a whole new twist literally, like Nicole Richie.  Seen here at a 10 year celebration for Ella Moss on July 28, 2011.  Can I get 2 French Braids Up and A Fish!

SNAPPIN' IN THE STREET: IN MEMORY OF

Inspired by The Sartorialist's "Vintage Photos" ,  I honor Elsie Mae Dockery, who recently passed away. She is the mother & best friend to my friend Tim.  There's something to be said about the elegance women held back in the day.  Here, Elsie is strolling along Harlem on what seems to be an ordinary day, yet her overall style is very much classy and demure.  A simple white dress that hits below the knee along with dainty white gloves tucked behind the clutch she holds in her hand.  A short bouffant allows her bauble stud earrings and draped necklace to pull her look altogether.  Thanks Elsie Mae for getting Snapped4Style!

CELEBRITY TREND REPORT: 2011 TEEN CHOICE AWARDS

With the plethora of fashion out there I have to say I wasn't impressed with the style at this year's Teen Choice Awards.  Overall it looked like a bad 90s prom.  However, there were some gorgeous gals that opted out of the frills literally and channeled their inner Catwoman in skin tight leather. Blake Lively gets my vote for Best Dressed in a citrus colored dress with the pointy-toe reptile heels to add that extra Rrrrrrrrrr to it.  We also can't forget teen cuties Justin Beiber and Taylor Lautner also sporting the leather trend in the male category.
