TREND ALERT! GO BLUE

I was browsing through Cosmopolitan's June 2011 issue and there was a feature on Gwen Stefani & the trend of Fedora hats.  Gwen always looks fierce from H to T, but I also noticed her electric blue nail polish.  The image posted here was not available on the web so I had to take a picture of a picture (hahaa) so I can report it.  Kourtney Kardashian & Scott Disick, & Johnny Depp also sport the Blue! If you're looking for a similar blue, see my post on "Essie Set Sail in Blues" http://snapped4style.blogspot.com/2011/04/set-sail-in-blues.html  in "Aruba Blue"

TREND REPORT: BOHEMIAN MEETS PERU

Braids in various forms have been all the rage. A fancy, yet casually fun way to wear your hair on summery days.  Boho has also been a strong trend this season. I walked into H&M yesterday and the mannequin heads caught my attention.  It's a mix of Boho meets Peruvian.  What do you get when you mix the two ? Bohovian!  Last summer I was in Peru & happened to take pics of the traditional Peruvian costumes.  See the influence it has on H&M's pre-fall look!  Left: H&M, Center, Right, Cutzco PeruPhotobucket

Here:  The Milk or Headband braid with various influences from around the world.  Also H&M.  I love the neck wrapping as well.

FACEBOOK FASHIONISTA

What do you wear when you're hanging out in the Hamptons on summer weekends?  This vibrant Kaftan of course! I love the bright colors and bold print with the ethnic influence of the tassels on the sleeve. Makes this look perfect for a day at the oh so trendy Surf Lodge where Kristy was at, and transitions beautifully into night for a bonfire on the beach.  Cool by day, cozy by night.  Her looks stands out from the crowd while being casually chic!  Dress by "Milly"

GAY PRIDE PARADE 2011 NYC

This was my 1st time going to this parade & I have to say it was one of the most exciting.  The music on the floats is like no other you've ever heard before, makes want to shake shake everything, the costumes, the color, and this year the energy was amped as Governor Cuomo said "YES" to gay marriage.  Here are some pics from other sources the last one is from me to prove I was there! The theme was 'Proud & Powerful".  The costumes brought an array of color, feathers, heavy beading, and different interpretations of wedding attire.

JAZZ AGE LAWN PARTY 2011 GOVERNOR'S ISLAND NYC

Governor's Island, another one of NYC's hidden gems.  Just a ferry ride away from lower Manhattan, you arrive to a beautiful historic haven with plenty places to picnic and views of Lady Liberty and the Manhattan Skyline.  It is here where the 6th Annual Jazz Age Lawn Party took place.  Lovers of Jazz flocked to the island over the weekend and brought the 1920s back to life through music and style.  Thank you all for getting Snapped! What a lovely day!

SNAPPIN' IN THE STREET

I've always been a huge fan of New Balance sneakers, like since back in the day.  Something about them makes me feel like they have a combo of  European/All American/Lower East Sider Feel.

I went to The Village Underground Bar last night to watch The Village Underground band  The AMAZING combination of Rahj & the Mash and DJ Danny Estrella play and spin top 40, classics, alternative rock, hip hop, reggae and dance.  Everything you’ve ever wanted to hear, the way you’ve never heard it before. I highly recommend if you're ever in the West Village.   Now back to fashion.  Check out guitarist Jason Murden's New Balance kicks.  I love how New Balance stepped away from their traditional neutral palettes & created a vibrant blue & red combo.  Perfect way to step into the 4th of July!

ART IN THE STREET

I've been toying with the idea of including murals I snap in the street on this blog. I figured, why not! Art is fashion & fashion is art.  From now on, I'm going to share with my readers art in the streets of NYC that you don't get to see. Below, murals from DeLaVega in Spanish Harlem. He incorporates traditional Taino/Puerto Rican culture in vibrant mosiac designs.

FACEBOOK FASHIONISTA: KAT-WOMAN

Photobucket
Kat-Woman strikes again literally in a leopard print top. She created a beautiful palette out of all the latest trends. I love how she took animal prints and put it against white pants. It makes both the pant & shirt pop! The Pièce de résistance, her Jeffery Campbell red suede booties. She matched her shoes with her lipstick..another BIG TREND this season, & her minty chipped polish. Makes this entire look fresh for Summer! Throw a boyfriend blazer over it & it easily transitions into Fall. BTW KAT, love how you took this pic too!

SNEAKER EDITION: THE MAC DAD WILL MAKE YOU JUMP JUMP

PhotobucketSo my followers know how much I love and blog about men's sneakers! On the way back from the Mermaid Parade, a guy sitting across from me on the train had some cool snake design high-top black sneakers. I asked who makes them and he said a brand called JUMP. Have you seen their website ? It has a sleek yet chill vibe. I love the slogan, "Bold enough to dress your business attire and down enough to rock with your most premium denim. The rise of the sneaker has found you"  http://www.jumpcorp.com/
Here are my faves below on http://www.endless.com/
